Congressional Aide

That’s me. I’ve been asked to fill in as the Senate-side producer from the bureau. It’s a very hectic, nuanced job that takes a lot more than the end result would EVER indicate. You have to translate the Senate for viewers, you have to be able to create a visualization for viewers (apparently Otto von Bismarck once said, “There are two things you don’t want to see being made—sausage and legislation.”) It can be complicated and boring — and quite disgusting. But, you have to get it right, and you have to make air. I can’t tell you how much we do, how hard we work and sometimes just how many people it takes to make that happen — and that’s just for one reporter on the Hill. This beat is that demanding and it has taken me a while to get used to doing it. And, next week they recess for a month. I want to be in office!!
