I didn’t really take the summer off at all but it sure seems like it since my last posting was in May.
Oops.
A lot has happened since May. We didn’t travel much at the beginning of the summer. One trip in July to Charlotte for the case of the marine who raped a girl and shot her and her family in Iraq. Then the Lebanon-Israel thing happened. It was awful watching that unfold. The attacks on the Lebanese people who had already suffered so much in the 1980’s were unfair in my opinion. I’m not sure what the solution was but killing innocent Lebanese and destroying the country’s infrastructure was not the answer. Lebanon became a place close to my heart after I visited there coming home from Baghdad. I met a woman at the airport at the tourist desk and we ended up becoming friends. One of the first things Dana said to me was that the war in the 1980’s was not their fault. They only wanted peace. I heard the same thing from many Lebanese. And now this.
